North Carolina

Our Program seeks to recruit and enlist incarcerated women of faith who have a desire to serve. Although North Carolina currently has only three women’s state prisons in North Carolina (as opposed to the 50 men’s state prisons), entry to the program is still competitive among the female populations. The admissions process consists of a extensive application and interview process, whereby the Program accepts and matriculates a cohort of 20+ women every four years. As one cohort is nearing graduation and deployment, recruiting is already underway for the next cohort. The first Women’s Field Minister cohort in NC will graduate in December 2027.

The Wake County Extension Center (WCEC) is located at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) in Raleigh, North Carolina.

We offer an fully-accredited, four year Bachelor of Arts in Interdiscplinary Studies with concentrations in biblial counseling, Chrisitian ethics, and ministry to women. This is the same degree offered on the main campus of Judson College in Wake Forest, NC. In addition to the core liberal arts curricula, this particular major is designed to help students broaden their education through exploring three different academic areas, and further prepares students to continue education through graduate studies.

The Women’s Field Minister bachelor’s degree program launched at the Wake County Extension in January 2024 with 19 students. They will graduate in December 2027 and will deploy as North Carolina Field Ministers in early 2028.

SEBTS partners with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, Game Plan for Life, and North Carolina Baptists to facilitate this program.
