External Scholarships
Government Funding
- Eligibility is set by federal regulations and determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
- You are required to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to remain eligible by receiving above a 2.0 cumulative GPA, passing 67% of the courses you attempt, and being on pace to graduate within 150% of the published length of your program.
- You must be enrolled in your first undergraduate degree program.
- Only courses fulfilling requirements for academic progress in your primary undergraduate academic plan are eligible.
- Full-time enrollment is required to receive the maximum amount of the scholarship. All other enrollment is pro-rated.
- If selected for verification, you must submit all requested documents to receive any federal funds.
Military Benefits
Who is eligible to receive the military discount rate?
- Veterans currently serving, retired, and (honorably, generally, medically, and other than honorably) discharged are eligible for the military discount rate.
- If you are already receiving the Southern Baptist rate, then the military discount rate will not be applied because they are the same rate (in this case there is no need to apply for the military discount rate).
- To apply for the military discount rate, please complete and submit the Military Discount Rate Request Form with the appropriate documentation detailed therein.

How can I receive institutional tuition assistance?
- Institutional Tuition Assistance (ITA) is offered in lieu of military TA for students who can demonstrate they are currently eligible for military TA. To demonstrate eligibility, you will need to:
- Complete and submit the ITA Verification Form along with a current LES.
- A current LES must be submitted each semester you would like to receive benefits.
- Undergraduate and graduate students must maintain a cumulative GPA at or above 2.0 to use ITA.
What if I am eligible for other military benefits?
- If you receive any other military-affiliated benefit or scholarship (NCTAP, NCCOWV, etc.), please contact the financial aid assistant for military affairs at [email protected] to discuss eligibility standards.
Institutional Scholarships
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Be a degree-seeking student.
- Both on-campus and off-campus students are eligible for financial aid.
- Be enrolled in courses that are working towards the completion of your current, primary academic plan.
- Have a minimum enrollment status of ¾-time (9-11 credit hours).
- You must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) to receive 100% of your offered Institutional Scholarship.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Complete the FAFSA®.
- Students whose FAFSA® is not received at least one week before the first day of the semester will have their Institutional Aid removed until the FAFSA® is completed.

What are external scholarships?
- External scholarships encompass a wide variety of scholarships offered by individuals, businesses, or organizations outside of federal and state financial aid or institutional scholarships offered directly from Judson College.
What are the eligibility requirements for external scholarships?
- External scholarships are incredibly varied in their eligibility requirements, so it is always a case-by-case basis on whether you are eligible or not. Be sure to read all eligibility requirements carefully!
How can I find external scholarship opportunities?
- There are several websites that can be used to help connect students to financial aid sources. The Financial Aid Office recommends students use both their External Scholarships page to see if you may be eligible for any scholarships listed their, and also Sallie Mae’s Scholarship Search Tool for access to a free scholarship search engine.
